Employee training
The Suicide Prevention Programme: Be The Light
Description
People spend a third of their lives at work. One in five adults say they have had suicidal thoughts at some point of their lives. Given these statistics, it is likely that in your career you may work with someone who is struggling to cope and may be thinking about taking their own life. Suicide is a difficult subject to talk about but we all have a crucial role to play in suicide prevention and there are lots of things that can be done to make a positive difference and have a life-saving conversation.
This one-day training programme draws on best practice guidance based on research by academic leaders on global suicide prevention, such as the University of Glasgow and the University of Salford.
It is a customised programme, based on regional established programmes such as Suicide First Aid, ASIST Suicide Prevention, and PABBS ‘Postvention Assisting those Bereaved By Suicide’. Training content is designed based on the latest global research, including recent studies in neurodiversity and suicide risk.
The aim of this training is to provide delegates with the awareness and strategies to recognise signs of an employee or colleague at risk. Attending the programme will equip delegates with the insight to follow positive and practical steps to support an employee in need with confidence by following a recommended process.
