Based on over forty years experience in leadership and training, this comprehensive programme combines theoretical knowledge and practical experience, strategically applying established management theory to the challenges faced in the modern day. The programme equips leaders with the tools to become mentally literate and focus on a compassionate, people-centric approach in supporting their teams.

Modules and Objectives
Module 1: Fluency
- Explore the topic of mental health, learning about key terminology, prevalence of common conditions and how to use the mental health continuum.
- Gain a deeper understanding of stress, pressure, and burnout.
- Understand how promoting mental health can positively impact employee productivity, engagement, and retention.
- Gain awareness of legal and ethical considerations surrounding mental health at work.
- Examine various psychosocial risks present in the workplace, such as high workload, lack of control, interpersonal conflicts, and organisational culture.
- Learn to identify the early signs and symptoms of mental health concerns among employees.
Module 2: Intervention
- Learn how to be proactive in addressing mental health concerns by recognising indicators and taking appropriate action.
- Learn effective communication techniques, active listening skills, and how to provide practical support while promoting empowerment and self-advocacy.
- Explore the barriers, such as stigma, that prevent individuals from disclosing their mental health concerns.
- Learn strategies to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment that encourages open communication and disclosure.
- Learn how to cultivate a sense of compassion by fostering trust, empathy, and understanding. They will explore how to stay in the ‘Zone of Helpfulness’ and signpost to relevant resources.
- Explore the appropriate steps to take when faced with a crisis, including how to establish immediate safety, and connect individuals in crisis with appropriate resources such as crisis helplines, mental health professionals, or emergency services.
Module 3: Transformation
- Understand the significance of their role in shaping the workplace culture and promoting positive mental health practices.
- Explore strategies to foster inclusivity, respect, and support within the organisation, encouraging a sense of belonging and wellbeing for all employees.
- Gain awareness of their leadership style and its impact on employee mental health.
- Learn strategies to foster psychological safety, such as embracing failure and encouraging a growth mindset.
- Recognise the significance of their role as leaders in promoting good mental health practices within the organisation.
- Explore strategies to effectively communicate and reinforce the importance of mental health and self-care.
- Develop accountability plans to address mental health challenges within their work context and together make their commitment to creating mentally fit workplaces.
The FIT framework allows for more confidence in using the right terms, and way of intervening in the workplace. The group setting allows for relevant conversations supported by a great trainer. We should have our leaders following the same training!
